You can help MMC in its work by volunteering to help in fundraising activities and events. There are many different ways you can help, including participating as a volunteer in our fundraising activities, host a fundraiser yourself, obtain items from businesses that MMC can “auction” at its silent and live auction items (we provide tax receipts and display the donor’s name at the event and on our website), donate services such as printing, graphics, and the like, and introducing businesses, classrooms, organizations, and even individuals to our recycling programs. Recycling benefits MMC and our environment. The process of collecting recycling items helps keep all of us aware of the importance of protecting our environment and the many things we can do to protect it.

Recycling of Ink and Toner Cartridges

MMC recycles used ink and toner cartridges to raise money to help pay for its rescue and rehabilitation activities and related operations. Individuals and businesses can help MMC in its work and help preserve our environment at the same time by collecting used ink and toner cartridges and providing them to MMC to exchange for funds. If you would like to participate in MMC’s Recycling Program, you can click here and print our label for your Recycling of Ink Cartridges collection box/container label. You can contact MMC by e-mailing us at recycle@marinemammalconservancy.org or by calling us at (305)451-4774, to arrange for the delivery or pick-up of your cartridges. This recycling program also makes a great “green” project for schools, businesses, and other organizations to promote awareness of our environment and the importance of preserving it.

MMC Green Partner Program

MMC’s permanent facility will be a model of sustainable design, construction, and energy usage. Corporations, foundations, and individuals who share MMC’s commitment to our environment and the importance of sustainable design and energy usage can participate in our project in numerous ways, including pledging donations to fund the construction of designated buildings, structures, or other facilitaties, one time or period donations to our Capital Campaign, the purchase of solar system components, and many other ways. Pop Tops for Dolphins

Adults and children alike can help MMC in its important work by collecting the pull tabs (”Pop Tops”) from soda and other beverage cans. MMC recycles the Pop Tops and uses the funds we receive to pay for the cost of our rescue and rehabilitation activities and related operating expenses. MMC will provide you with collection containers which you can place in your home, school, or business and start making your own contribution to the well being of marine mammals. You can also make your own collection containers out of simple household items such as empty coffee cans, milk jugs, or boxes. Empty tennis ball containers make good collection containers, too! You can even make a family or class project out of it. Feel free to download MMC’s Pop Tops for Dolphins labels to use for your own project. You can download the label above by right clicking on it. Join MMC’s Pod Partners Program Today and Help to Ensure a Permanent Rehabilitation, Research, and Education Facility for Dolphins and Whales in the Upper Keys

Join MMC’s Pod Partners Program today and help MMC eliminate its mortgage debt. Our goal is to elimate our mortgage debt by January 1, 2012. This goal will enable MMC to focus its fundraising activities on building its permanent rehabilitation, research, and education facility!

Our work is made possible through support from organizations and individuals like you.

MMC closed on its property in Key Largo in March 2009, after leasing the property from the owner for many years. With the acquisition, MMC has launched its capital campaign so that it can build its permanent marine mammal rehabilitation, research, and education complex. Consistent with its commitment to our environment, MMC’s facility MC is proud will be designed and constructed ias a “green” project, with sustainable design and construction. MMC invites you to join its Pod Partners Program and make a monthly contribution to help us reach our goal to elimate the $450,000 mortgage debt by January 1, 2012.

In this very difficult economic time, MMC’s ability to obtain donations and grants is extremely challenging. For this reason, we are counting on our friends and volunteers—the heart of MMC—to help in this important endeavor.

Your monthly contribution of $5, $10 or $25 by check or paypal will help MMC to satisfy its mortgage commitment and enable MMC to focus on the care of the whales, dolphins and other marine mammals in need of our help—by continuing to respond when animals strand and by improving our facility in anticipation of their needs.

How you can get involved as a volunteer for marine mammal strandings depends on where you live: If you live in Southern Florida or the Florida Keys and would like to help out, please contact us at info@marinemammalconservancy.org. We will contact you to see how your talents or desires to help best fit, and direct you to a volunteer training session if appropriate.

Many states don’t have a stranding network. In fact, most states have the policy of euthanizing live stranded marine mammals and then performing a necropsy. If you live in Florida, however, there is an extensive network. Some of the organizations use volunteers and others do not. Contact us at info@marinemammalconservancy.org and we will direct you to the closest organization no matter what coastal state you are in.

Recycling Programs

You can participate in the Marine Mammal Conservancy’s work with dolphins and whales by collecting empty toner and ink cartridges, old cell phones, and beverage can pull tops (”pop tops”). MMC recycles these items to help raise funds to pay our operating expenses.
